Meet the Author

Dr Madhumita Chattopadhyay is a professor in the Department of Philosophy, Jadavpur University, Jadavpur, Kolkata. Though her area of research is Buddhism, she is very much interested in the philosophy of Contemporary Indian thinkers specially of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. She has been awarded with different national and international scholarships like the Fulbright Visiting Lectureship and Charles Wallace India Trust Fellowship. She has edited three books and written three. One of her important books is Walking Along the Paths of Buddhist Epistemology.

Smita Sirker has taught at Jadavpur University and Jawarharlal Nehru University. She has written extensively on Philosophy of Mind, Cognitive Science, and Moral Reasoning. Her major articles are “Aspects of Mathematical Pluralism” (Journal of Mathematics and Culture, 2016), “Gettier Across Cultures” (No©us, 2015), “Dinnaga and Mental Models: A Reconstruction” (Philosophy East and West, 2010) and “Is Belief in Free Will a Cultural Universal?” (Mind and Language, 2010). She is the co-author of Mental Reasoning: Experiments and Theories.

Sashinungla received her Ph.D. at the North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, where she wrote her thesis on environmental philosophy. She is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the Jadavpur University, Kolkata, where she often gets to teach Eco-Philosophy, Peace and Conflict studies, and Buddhist Philosophy. She has published on Folklore and Culture, Insurgency, and Strategic studies, and is now working on issues of Conversion and Terrorism.
